Scaffolding FAQ

Common questions about scaffold supply, delivery, and compliance

Ordering & Pricing

What is the minimum order quantity?

There is no minimum order at Frontier Scaffold. Whether you need a single base plate or a full scaffold setup for a high-rise, we can supply it. However, delivery charges apply for orders under $500.

How much does Kwikstage scaffolding cost?

Prices vary by component. Standards range from $15-40, ledgers from $12-30, and transoms from $10-25 depending on size. Trade account holders receive wholesale pricing typically 15-25% below retail. Contact us for current trade rates.

Do you offer trade accounts?

Yes, we offer trade accounts for builders, contractors, and scaffolders. Benefits include trade pricing, 30-day terms (for approved accounts), priority dispatch, and a dedicated account manager. Apply online or call us.

How quickly can I get a quote?

We aim to return all quotes within 4 business hours. For urgent projects, call us directly on 1800 407 845 and we can often provide pricing while you're on the phone.

Delivery

Do you deliver Australia-wide?

We deliver throughout NSW and can arrange freight to all Australian states. Sydney metro orders over $500 receive free delivery. Regional and interstate freight is quoted based on weight and destination.

How long does delivery take?

Sydney metro: same-day or next-day delivery for in-stock items ordered before 10am. Greater NSW: 2-3 business days. Interstate: 3-7 business days depending on location.

What do I need to prepare for scaffold delivery?

Ensure clear vehicle access (trucks up to 12m), a flat unloading area, and someone on site to receive the delivery. For crane unloads, confirm site access for the crane vehicle. We'll confirm specific requirements when booking.

Can you deliver to construction sites?

Yes, we regularly deliver to active construction sites. Provide site address, contact name, phone number, and any access requirements (gates, permits, specific unloading areas). Our drivers are experienced with site protocols.

Products & Stock

Is your scaffolding AS/NZS certified?

Yes, all our Kwikstage scaffolding complies with AS/NZS 1576 (Scaffolding) and AS/NZS 4576 (Scaffolding safety guidelines). Components are hot-dip galvanised to AS/NZS 4680 for corrosion protection.

Do you sell second-hand scaffolding?

We primarily sell new scaffolding to ensure quality and compliance. Occasionally we have ex-hire stock available at reduced prices. Contact us to check current availability of used equipment.

What brands do you stock?

We supply premium Kwikstage scaffolding manufactured to Australian standards. All components are compatible with major Australian Kwikstage systems and are fully interchangeable.

Can you supply scaffold for specific heights?

Yes, we can help you calculate and supply scaffolding for any height project. Use our scaffold calculator for estimates, or contact us with your project dimensions for an accurate component list and quote.

Compliance & Safety

Do I need a licence to erect scaffolding?

In Australia, scaffolding over 4 metres high must be erected by someone with a High Risk Work Licence (Scaffolding). Lower heights can be erected by a 'competent person' following AS/NZS 1576 guidelines. Always conduct a risk assessment first.

What safety inspections are required?

Scaffold must be inspected: before first use, after any modification, after any event that could affect stability (storms, impacts), and at regular intervals during use (weekly recommended). Document all inspections.

What are the load rating requirements?

Scaffold must display Safe Working Load (SWL) signage. Light duty: 225kg/m², Medium duty: 450kg/m², Heavy duty: 675kg/m². The appropriate rating depends on the work being performed and materials stored on the platform.

What edge protection is required?

Handrails at 900-1100mm height, mid-rails, and toe boards (minimum 150mm high) are required on all open edges and ends. Maximum gap between platform and structure is 225mm.

Technical

What is the maximum height for Kwikstage scaffolding?

Standard Kwikstage can safely reach 50+ metres when properly designed. Heights over 30 metres typically require specific engineering calculations and additional bracing. We can connect you with scaffold engineers for complex projects.

How do I calculate how much scaffolding I need?

For a basic estimate: measure the perimeter to scaffold and the number of storeys. Divide perimeter by 2.4m for number of bays. Multiply bays by storeys for lift count. Use our online calculator for component quantities, or send us dimensions for an accurate quote.

Can Kwikstage be used with other scaffold systems?

Kwikstage components are designed to work within the Kwikstage system. Mixing with Ringlock or other systems is not recommended as connection methods differ. However, Kwikstage is compatible across different Kwikstage manufacturers.

How long does scaffolding last?

Quality hot-dip galvanised Kwikstage scaffolding lasts 20-30+ years with proper care. Inspect components regularly, repair or replace damaged items, and store undercover when possible. Coastal environments may reduce lifespan.
